The project members wish Simon well in his new job. His details are left on this site for people interested in the project. Dave Miller, Project Manager.
My name is Simon Christie and I am thirty years old.
I am currently on the second year of a HNC in Computing and Business at Barnsley College, which is undertaken part-time over the course of two evenings. Education-wise, I have also a degree in Electronic Systems and Information Engineering which I studied at Sheffield Hallam University. Before that I gained a BTEC National Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
I have worked mainly in the Electronics industry, working for both a design house and a manufacturing plant. Whilst at the design house, I worked on projects designing electrical goods such as televisions, satellite set top boxes and ATM monitors. At the manufacturing plant, I helped build and test mainly satellite receivers.
I have a number of leisure interests, which range from reading and music to hiking and the outdoors. Music-wise, I have an eclectic taste ranging from metal (Metallica, Soundgarden) to AOR (Bruce Springsteen) to easy listening (Frank Sinatra) and finishing with classical (Rachmaninov). I enjoy reading about a wide range of subjects ranging from historical books to crime fiction and the occasional sci-fi novel. I enjoy watching sports mainly boxing and rugby union. I am a keen walker and hiker and enjoy walking and camping around the country, in particular the Lake District and Snowdonia.
I wanted this position for a number of reasons, but the main ones are the fact that over the twelve months I will have the opportunity to gain new skills and experiences which will help me to progress in the field of Information Technology.
