Promotion via email


You have probably experienced, or read about, Spamming: unsolicited mass mailing of email adverts to news groups and discussion lists. There are still some who say that, despite the hate-mail (and possible disconnection) that may result for the sender of a spam, it is still a cost-effective way of selling. Internet list-brokers are emerging, but at the moment they do not seem to offer very well-targetted lists (and people are suspicious of how the addresses have been collected). It will be interesting to see how things develop once traditional directory publishers start gathering (and selling) email addresses.
